Colt 45 Blows Out Beer na Beer, Grabs Solo Leadership in Class B

Colt 45 routed Beer na Beer, 82-50, to take solo leadership in Class B of the 2015 Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Inc. Basketball InvitationalCup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Erstwhile co-leader Vitamilk Soya Drink slipped to No. 2 after losing to Tanduay Black, 68-70, Friday night.


Opening with a 14-10 run in the first quarter, Colt 45 systematical demolish Beer na Beer in the second quarter as Ching San Su and Charlton Ong led the attack with 12 points each for a 43-22 halftime advantage.


Keith Banzon and Joel Masadia tried to turn things around for Beer na Beer in the third quarter as both fired five points each but Colt 45 continued with the demolition and entered the fourth quarter with a 20-point lead at 58-38.


Colt 45 did not give Beer na Beer a chance to reverse the outcome of the game as Brix Arrobang delivered more points to seal the win.


Arrobang and Arrobang shared the top scoring honors with 17 points each, while Su and Kenneth Ymalay picked up 15 apiece and Leonard Kilayko with 9 points.


Joel Masadia led Beer na Beer with 14 points, Simon Tan scored 13, Keith Banzon made 8, and Siopao Dichavez added 6 points.


Meanwhile, Arian Chua’s back-to-back basket allowed Tanduay Black to pull off an upset win against erstwhile co-leader Vitamilk Soya Drink.


Chua stepped up big time when he surprised Vitamilk with a spin move layup to tie the game. Chua also drove strong to the basket in the dying seconds to fish a foul and knocked down two pressure pack free throws with .8 second left to steal the win for Tanduay Black.


Tanduay Black took a 21-11 lead in the first quarter but Vitamilk rebounded in the second canto as Randell Uy and Mark Antonio delivered seven points each force a 30-all deadlock at halftime.

Vitamilk took a slim 52-50 lead going to the fourth quarter behind a balanced offensive. It was a nip and tuck battle in the 4th as no team led by more than fourth points.


Celhelm Uy paced Black with 17 points while Antonio spearheaded Vitamilk with 15 points.
